This course is being developed to fill a gap in current national training packages and will target professionals and owners with dogs in a number of different settings.
Your feedback or endorsement will contribute to our submission to the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) (government accreditation body) and demonstrate broad industry need.
We need help with two things:
1. Validation: Confirming the need for such a course
2. Development: Subject matter expert advisers to help create a scope for dog first aid training.
The biggest reason for this course is to make sure first aid “sticks in its lane”, as we are seeing providers out there teaching subjects that border on Veterinary Medicine to dog owners. I have attached a brief initial summary of our proposal to ASQA.
If you’re willing to help, please:
- Complete the attached letter, and
- Return it to us via email.
This doesn’t have to be at an organisational level, it can also be if individual nurses and vets wish to partake 😊
Thank you for helping us improve national first aid standards for dogs and their handlers.
